  1. G4 · 2nd-great-grandparents Julius Franz Kretschmar  ⚭  Johanna Lina Landrock b. 21 Jun 1851 Germany – d. 27 Jul 1946 Brackenridge Hospital, Austin · she 21 Feb 1855 – 31 Dec 1902. Texas death certificate no. 34138, informant his son Will. ⚠️ The parents field reads "No record." The German origin dead-ends on the face of the document. Confirmed
  2. G3 · great-grandparents Willie Frank "Will" Kretschmar  ⚭  Hattie Elizabeth "Liessi" Ladusch 18 Oct 1890 Del Valle, Travis Co. – Nov 1973 Austin · she 28 Mar 1898 New Ulm, Austin Co. – 3 Mar 1990 Wimberley · m. 1923. ⚠️ His death date is given as the 20th by our research and the 22nd by the tree. Unresolved. Confirmed
  3. G2 · grandmother Lucille Lorine Kretschmar 25 Aug 1925 Austin – 14 Apr 2001 Hays Co. S34. Confirmed

⚠️ A new lead and a new conflict, both from the tree. It gives Julius Franz's birth as 20 June 1851 at "Kr Breslau" — Kreis Breslau, Silesia, now Wrocław. The certificate says the 21st and names no place at all. The date conflict stands unresolved and the Silesian place is testimony — but it is the first geographic lead this line has ever had.

The people

11 of the people on this chain have a card of their own. The summary here is the card's opening; the full record, portrait, photographs and documents are on the person's page.

Willie Frank "Will" Kretschmar

Confirmed

1890–1973

  • Born 18 October 1890; died 20 November 1973; buried Austin Memorial Park, plot 1-566-10 — two plots from his daughter S34
  • Named as Lucille's father in the NUMIDENT record, independently of the grave S33
  • His memorial records him as "s/o Franz and Lena Landrock Kretschmar" — Julius Franz Kretschmar (1851–1946) and Johanna Lina Landrock Kretschmar (1855–1902) Probable S34
  • Married Hattie Ladusch in 1923 S34
  • Father of Lucille Lorine Kretschmar: her 1925 Texas birth certificate names Willie F. Kretschmar, 34, born Travis County S264, and the 1930 Austin census has Willie 39, Liessi and Lucille 4 S251
  • He served in the First World War — Private, Battery A, 345th Field Artillery, credited to Texas, Army serial number 2231722, enlisted 21 September 1917 and discharged 14 March 1918 S142
  • ⚠️ The service is under six months, and the form does not say why. His headstone application records an enlistment date and a discharge date with nothing between them — no decorations, no overseas service, no discharge type. The 345th Field Artillery belonged to the 90th Division, organised at Camp Travis in Texas, which would suit a Travis County man; that is context, not on the document, and is not claimed here S142
  • The two dates above now have a second independent source: the federal headstone application filed after his death carries 10/18/1890 and 11/20/73, beside the cemetery memorial S142 S34
  • The application was made by Mrs. Liessi Kretschmar, relationship Wife, of 4913 Avenue H, Austin — Hattie Elizabeth "Liessi" Ladusch signing her own name, which corroborates the marriage independently of the grave. Ordered 15 March 1974; a flat granite marker with a Latin cross, consigned to Cook-Walden Funeral Home S142
  • 🆕 He registered for the draft on 5 June 1917 as Will Kretchmar, signing Willie Kretschmar. The card says he was born 18 October 1890 in Travis County, lived at Del Valle, and was a labourer for H. Meyer at Elroy. He was single and claimed exemption for “Heart Trouble”, but he was in uniform by September S435. His son Raymond Willie Kretschmar was born in Travis County on 7 October 1929. The state birth index names Willie F. Kretschmar as the father and Liessi Ladusch as the mother S436. In 1954 he was a carpenter in the house at 1911 East First Street, Austin, with Liessi; his brother Max was at Del Valle S437. added 25 September 2026.
  • 🆕 His son Raymond Will Kretschmar died on 9 July 1980 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Beaumont, aged 50, a veteran and a Western Electric installer living at Nederland. The death certificate names the father as Will Kretschmar Confirmed S968. added 29 September 2026
  • 🆕 His death notice, Austin American-Statesman, 21 November 1973: “Will F. Kretschmar, 83, of 4913 Ave. H died in a local hospital Tuesday”; survivors include his brother Max Kretschmar of Elroy and his sister Minnie Reininger of Austin S1196

Lucille Lorine Kretschmar

TexasConfirmed

Kristin's paternal grandmother · 1925–2001

  • Born 25 August 1925, Austin, Travis County, Texas S33S34. Hers is the reason the family was in Austin at all — it is her home town, not her husband's.
  • Died 14 April 2001, Hays County, Texas; buried Austin Memorial Park, plot 1-566-7, with her husband. Her marker reads "Married to Thomas" S34
  • Recorded variously as Lucille Lorine Caffey and Lucille Lorene Kretschmar — the spelling of the middle name is unstable across records S33S34
  • Daughter of Will Kretschmar and Liessi Ladusch — NUMIDENT parent fields S33
  • Grandfather on her father's side Julius Franz Kretschmar S34; grandparents on her mother's side Otto Paul Ladusch and Emma Stein Ladusch S327S328
  • 🆕 She played in the Austin High School Orchestra. “Kretschmar, Lucille” is on the Orchestra Personnel roster in the 1942 Comet, when she was 16. The group photograph has no names, so she is not pointed out in it S438. added 25 September 2026.
  • 🆕 A year earlier, the 1941 Comet lists “Kretschmar” among the second violins. It gives the surname only, but she is the only Kretschmar in the orchestra S501. added 25 September 2026.
  • 🆕 In the same 1942 Comet she is Treasurer of the new square-dance club “Swing and Turn”, for both the fall and spring terms, listed as “Lucile Kretschmar”, the spelling on her birth certificate Confirmed S971S264. added 29 September 2026

Lena Kretschmar

Confirmed

Wife of Julius Franz Kretschmar · born 1855

  • Research status: CONFIRMED — added 24 September 2026 from the 1900 census, read from the image; entered in the family tree the same day.
  • Wife of Julius Franz Kretschmar (“Fritz”), married about 1879; mother of Willie Frank Kretschmar
  • Born February 1855, Germany; in 1900, mother of eight children, all eight living S228
  • Her maiden name was Landrock: two daughters' death certificates give it (see below)
  • 🆕 Arrived at Baltimore on 10 October 1883 on the steamship America from Bremen, as Lina, 28, with her husband Franz and their daughters Elisabeth, Clara and Eliza S380; added 24 September 2026.
  • 🆕 Two of her daughters' death certificates give her maiden name: Lena Landrock (Clara, 1967) and “Lantrop” (Minnie, 1978) S473S474. added 25 September 2026.
  • A third spelling, “Lena Landrum”, is on her son Max’s 1981 death certificate S1204
  • 🆕 Probable mother of Lizzie Kretschmar Rojas Probable confirm or correct →. In 1900 Lizzie, born August 1879 in Germany, is “dau.” of the head, Fritz, and Lena is his wife, married 21 years, mother of eight children, all living S228. What is weak: the census relationship is to the head, not to Lena; Lizzie's naturalization puts her birth in August 1878, a little before the marriage of about 1879 S577, so she could be a stepdaughter, and no record names her mother. added 28 September 2026.
  • 🆕 Mother of Max W. Kretschmar (1894–1981), one of her children in the 1900 household S228

Lizzie Kretschmar Rojas

Confirmed

Daughter of Julius Franz Kretschmar · born 1878

  • Research status: CONFIRMED (index) — added 24 September 2026 from an index record that names her father; entered in the family tree the same day.
  • Daughter of Julius Franz Kretschmar; probably of Lena Kretschmar Probable confirm or correct → (see below); sister of Willie Frank Kretschmar
  • Born 20 August 1878, Leipzig, Germany; Lizzie, the eldest, in the 1900 household S228
  • Named as Lizzie Rojas in her father's obituary index S296; died 11 February 1951, Bishop, Nueces County, Texas S634
  • 🆕 Her husband was Estanislao Rojas, born in Monterrey, Mexico; they married at Austin on 21 September 1912 and had one child. She petitioned for naturalization at Corpus Christi on 17 June 1941, swearing that she had come to Baltimore on the SS America in October 1883 as “Lizze Kraetzschmar” S577. The petition's 1896 birth year for Estanislao is doubtful. added 25 September 2026.
  • 🆕 Her death certificate, no. 9437, gives her death on 11 February 1951 at Route 2, Bishop, where she had lived 31 years, of heart disease. It names her father as “Frank Kretczehmas”, born Germany, that is Julius Franz Kretschmar. Her husband, Estanislao Rojas, was the informant, and the Cage-Piper Funeral Home took her to Kingsville S634. added 26 September 2026.
  • 🆕 In 1930 she and Estanislao V. Rojas, 35, born Mexico, lived near Bishop in the Driscoll Ranch subdivision, Nueces County, with a daughter aged 15. Lizzie was 52, born Germany, German her mother tongue S639. The census's immigration year, 1909, cannot be right, since she was in her father's Texas household in 1900. In 1950 the couple were still in Nueces County, Estanislao 54 and Lizzie 72, with a boy of 9 listed as their son whose parents are both given as born in Mexico, so probably a grandson or foster son; that census's “born Mexico” for Lizzie is an error S640. added 26 September 2026.
  • 🆕 Her mother: probably Lena Kretschmar Probable confirm or correct →. In 1900, read from the image, Lizzie is “dau.” of the head, Fritz, and Lena is his wife, married 21 years, with eight children born and eight living S228. What is weak: the census relationship is to the head only; her naturalization gives her birth as August 1878 S577, a little before a marriage of about 1879, so she could be Lena's stepdaughter, and no record names her mother. added 28 September 2026.

  • Wife of Ben Semff S296; died 17 June 1967, Cleburne, Texas; her death certificate names both parents
  • 🆕 Her death certificate, as Clara Frances Semff, gives her birth as 5 August 1881 in Germany and her mother as Lena Landrock. She died at Cleburne on 17 June 1967 and was buried in Rio Vista Cemetery S473. added 25 September 2026.

Elsie Lena Kretschmar Peterson

Confirmed

Daughter of Julius Franz Kretschmar · born 1883

  • Research status: CONFIRMED — added 24 September 2026 from a record that names the parents; entered in the family tree the same day.
  • Daughter of Julius Franz Kretschmar and Lena; sister of Willie Frank Kretschmar
  • Born 18 January 1883, Germany; Elsie in the 1900 household, the census entry now attached to her in the tree S228
  • Named as Elsie Peterson in her father's obituary index S296; died 11 November 1953
  • 🆕 She married Christian F. Peterson, a farmer born in Louisiana of Danish parents, about 1902–03. In 1910 they farmed near Creedmoor, Travis County, and she had borne five children, all living: Ruth, Arthur, Lawrence, Annie and Julius S573; in 1920 the family also had Willie, probably the same son as Julius, and Nannie S574; in 1930 Nannie and Edna were at home S575; and by 1950 she and Christian lived in Austin S576. The 1950 census says she was born in Texas, against Germany in the three earlier censuses. added 25 September 2026.
  • 🆕 In 1940 she and Christian F. Peterson, 62, rented a place on Fincher Lane, Precinct 6, Travis County; she was 57 S716. This census, like the 1950 one, gives her birthplace as Texas; the card keeps Germany, from her 1900 household. added 26 September 2026.

Minnie Johanna Kretschmar Reininger

Confirmed

Daughter of Julius Franz Kretschmar · born 1888

  • Research status: CONFIRMED — added 24 September 2026 from a record that names the parents; entered in the family tree the same day.
  • Daughter of Julius Franz Kretschmar and Lena; sister of Willie Frank Kretschmar
  • Born 11 March 1888, Travis County, Texas; Minnie in the 1900 household S228
  • Wife of Albert C. Reininger S296; died 18 January 1978, Austin; her death certificate names both parents
  • 🆕 As Minnie Johanna Reininger she died at Austin on 18 January 1978, born 11 March 1888 in Travis County; her son Frank was the informant and she is buried in Capital Memorial Gardens S474. With Albert Reininger she had a son born 10 July 1911 near Lytton Springs, Caldwell County S475; the family was Willie and Frank in 1920 S476 and Frank and Harry in 1940, in rural Travis County S477. added 25 September 2026.
  • 🆕 Her son Harry Max Reininger, born at Mendoza, Texas, married on 11 September 1943 in Henrico County, Virginia, while serving in the Army at Richmond Air Base. His bride was Evelyn Genevieve Pehl of Creedmoor. The certificate names his parents as Albert Reininger and Minnie Kretchmar S566. added 25 September 2026.
  • 🆕 Her husband, Albert C. Reininger, a farmer, died at Austin on 19 June 1955 and was buried in Capitol Memorial; their son Frank was the informant, and the certificate names his father as John Reininger, born in Germany S677. It gives his birth as 17 August 1882, but in 1900 he is Albert, 16, born May 1884, in John Reininger's household in Caldwell County, with a brother born in January 1882 S678, so 1884 is the better year. added 26 September 2026.
  • 🆕 The 1957 Austin directory lists her as Albert C. Reininger's widow at 1711 South First Street, with her sons Frank and Harry nearby S704. added 26 September 2026.
  • 🆕 In 1950 Albert, 65, and Minnie, 55, lived at 1711 South First Street, Austin, where she worked as a housekeeper for a private family; their son Harry, 26, a cabinet maker, his wife Evelyn and their three young children lived next door Probable confirm or correct → S799. Evidence: the names, the street and Harry's trade. What is weak: it gives Minnie's age as 55, ten years under her 1888 birth. added 27 September 2026
  • 🆕 Albert C. Reininger's mother was probably Helene (Helen) Seidemann Probable confirm or correct →. Evidence: in 1900, read from the image, Helen, born May 1855 in Texas, mother of twelve children, nine living, is the wife of the head, John Reininger, and Albert, 16, is his son S678; Texas county marriage indexes record Johann Reininger marrying Helene Seidemann S853. What is weak: the census relationship is to the head only, Albert's death certificate gives his mother as unknown S677, and the marriage is an index entry whose date has not been read. added 28 September 2026.

  • Died 27 July 1946, Brackenridge Hospital, Austin (Texas death certificate no. 34138; informant his son Will). An earlier version of this card said 1868–1940, from a user tree; the certificate and his ages in 1900 (48) and 1940 (88) rule that out
  • Father of Willie Frank "Will" Kretschmar, grandfather of Lucille Lorine Kretschmar S12
  • German-Texan line, Del Valle, Travis County, Texas S12
  • In 1900, as Fritz, 48, immigrated 1883, with Lena and eight children including Willie S228; in 1940, aged 88 and widowed, in his son Max's household S230

Works, B/L Z-9247115. The WW I box is checked and a clerk has written Pvt · US Army · WWI across the foot. This is the first evidence of military service anywhere in the Kretschmar record. Neither the FindAGrave memorial [S34] nor thirty-odd Portal newspaper notices mention it. ⚠ The form gives an enlistment and a discharge and nothing between them — under six months, no decorations, no overseas service, no discharge type. The 345th Field Artillery belonged to the 90th Division, organised at Camp Travis in Texas, which sits conveniently beside a Travis County man, but that is context and not on this document; it is not asserted here. It also gives 18 October 1890 and 20 November 1973 a second independent custodian — a federal form filed by the widow and processed by the Veterans Administration, beside the cemetery memorial. And the applicant block is Hattie Elizabeth "Liessi" Ladusch calling herself his wife in her own signature, which corroborates the marriage independently of the grave. ⚠ No parents on this form, so the "s/o Franz and Lena Landrock Kretschmar" reading stays Probable on the memorial alone; no plot number, so 1-566-10 still rests on [S34]; no marriage date, so 1923 does too.

Compiled for the Proeger family

Living adults appear by name and relationship, with the year only: no full date of birth and no home town on any page that search engines index, and a living person’s own page is kept out of search engines. Minors appear by name only — no date of birth, no birth year, no age, no school, no place, no address, no other identifying detail. A minor may be named and may appear in a family photograph; nothing further about them is published. Where it is not established whether someone is an adult or a minor, the minor rule applies.
