Julius Karl Proeger
WürttembergConfirmedThe immigrant · 1844–1924
- Also recorded as Carl Julius Proeger and Julius Proeger. The middle initial "H" appears on a NUMIDENT but belongs to the father, not the son; it does not distinguish them.
- Born 15 April 1844 at Kirchberg an der Jagst, Oberamt Gerabronn,
Württemberg — the register writes the place Gerabronn, Kirchberg u. Oa.,
and his siblings' entries read Kirchberg (OA. Gerabronn) — and baptised
Carl Julius Prüger at that Lutheran parish on 28 April — the Württemberg church book
S69, matched to the exact birth date on his
Pennsylvania death certificate S68
- 🔑 Sister: Christiane Juliane Prüger, b. 25 Oct 1838 Kirchberg an der Jagst, m. 28 May 1861 Johann Georg Fux of Schwieberdingen, d. 3 Feb 1911 — the first sibling of the immigrant ever documented, named with both of his own parents on a Württemberg family register S159. She stayed in Württemberg.

- Parents, both on the baptism register: Georg Melchior Julius Prüger,
Bürger und Schuhmachermeister — the death certificate says the father is
unknown, so this name exists on the register alone — and Elisabeth Catharina,
née Lösch. Her given name is read three ways: Elisabeth Catharina on the
1844 register, Elisabethe Sabina on the FamilySearch index of the 1835
Triensbach marriage, Lossetta on the 1924 death certificate. The register is
contemporaneous and is preferred; the surname Lösch is identical on all three

Not found — and it is not on
FamilySearch: a full-text search of Allegheny County naturalisation and citizenship
records returned nothing at all on 20 September 2026, the corpus holding no
Allegheny images. It is now a NARA Philadelphia or Allegheny County Division
of Court Records request. He owned property in Pittsburgh by 1887, so it had
already happened.
- He was naturalized in 1874, at Pittsburgh — his own 1920 census line reads immigrated 1865, Na 1874, and his son's sworn 1919 passport application gives the same year and says the certificate was presented S179S180. The certificate is still unlocated; the passport file's own pointer is passport no. 50070 of 16 June 1917.
- In January 1920, widowed, he owned 711 N. St. Clair Street, Pittsburgh, with his daughter Gertrude and her husband Godfrey Murfin S179; Gertrude was still in the house when she died in 1956 and was buried at Smithfield S181. A son, Julius Jr, born Pittsburgh 29 July 1867, married Ida Waggoner S180.
- In June 1880 he was a machinist on Virginia Street, Pittsburgh Ward 32, with Mena and four children: Julius 12, George 8, Frederick 6 and Mena 2 S183.
- 🆕 Two of his children in 1930, added 24 September 2026. His daughter Caroline was married to Charles W. Ross, a food-products salesman in Pittsburgh, with their children Karl P. and Katherine S355. His son Lewis W. (Walter) managed a laundry and owned his house at Swissvale, with his wife May and their children May and Walter S356.

"PROEGER, JULS., from Germany, age 21, laborer, New York, 1 November 1865, ship

That is arithmetic,

Minnie Margaret Kochendoerfer
ConfirmedThe immigrant · 1847–1912
- Father: Georg Leonhard Kochendörfer Confirmed
- Also recorded as Wilamena K., Mina L. and Sibylla Mine.
- Born 3 November 1847, Germany S137S124
- Died 9 April 1912, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, aged 63;
buried Smithfield East End Cemetery S19
- In April 1910 — her last census — she is Wilhelmina S. Proeger, 63, married 44 years, at 707 N. St. Clair Street, Pittsburgh, with Walter, Gertrude and Caroline S182. The enumerator wrote her husband as Louis G.; the household is Julius's.
- Baptised "Sibÿlla Mina" at Langenburg, born 3 November 1847, daughter of Georg Leonhard Kochendörfer, cooper, and Eva Margaretha Renk S184.
- Her parish is named for the first time: Langenburg. The FamilySearch shared
tree christens her there on 21 November 1847, in the Oberamt Gerabronn,
Württemberg — eight kilometres from Kirchberg an der Jagst, where her
husband was baptised three years earlier S69S124. Two families out
of one small district who marry in Pittsburgh is chain migration, not
coincidence. Confirmed — the Langenburg
register entry itself has now been read S184. An earlier note here rested on
an index entry placing a Proeger family at Künzelsau; the Württemberg baptism
supersedes that guess.
- Her parents, Confirmed on 25 September 2026 from her baptism register and their 1837 marriage register S444:
Georg Leonhard Kochendörfer (1811 – 1 October 1859, died at Langenburg) ⚭
Eva Margaretha Renk (b. 1809), married 29 November 1837 at Gerabronn,
with six further children S124
- ⚠️ The year was corrected from 1848 to 1847 on 21 September 2026. This page had
kept the 1848 on her cemetery memorial S19
and merely noted the shared tree's 1847. Three things now stand against it: the
1900 census S137 writes
Nov 1847 and gives her age as 52 at 1 June 1900, which is consistent only with
1847 — a November 1848 birth would read 51; her 1912 Pennsylvania death certificate
gives 3 November 1847 independently, twelve years later; and her christening on
21 November 1847 S124 cannot
precede her birth. The memorial's 1848 is the outlier.
- The marriage was made in America. On the 1900 census both spouses report
immigration in 1867, 33 years in the United States and 32 years married —
so they crossed first and married in 1868, on this side of the ocean. The same row
records ten children born, seven living as of 1 June 1900; that column exists only on a
wife's line, which is why her husband's record never carried it
S137.
- Her own crossing is still
Not found. Langenburg makes the
Württemberg registers, rather than the Hamburg passenger lists, the next place to
look.
- 🆕 Three of Minnie's brothers went to America before her, added 26 September 2026: Johann Carl, born 21 March 1839 at Langenburg, applied to emigrate in October 1858 Probable confirm or correct →; Friedrich, born 25 December 1842, a shoemaker, and Heinrich Hermann, born 14 May 1845, a bookbinder, sailed together on the Humboldt from Hamburg to New York on 23 June 1864 S611. Heinrich Hermann's baptism names Georg Leonhard and Eva Margaretha as his parents and sits on the same family-register folio as Minnie's S612; Johann Carl's baptism, read from the register image, names the same parents: he was born 21 March 1839 and baptised at Langenburg on 27 March 1839 S729. His 1858 emigration application and Friedrich rest on index rows only. Minnie's own crossing has not been found

S17
- 🆕 She died at home, 2123 Lemoyne Avenue, Los Angeles. A Daily News item of 17 August 1942 reported that, after 20 years of migraine headaches and a recent major operation, she took an overdose of headache tablets and was dead when the police ambulance arrived. That is the paper's account, quoted as printed: it does not say whether the overdose was accidental, and no coroner's finding has been read. The item puts her death on Sunday 16 August and her age at 52; the death index gives 15 August, aged 49, and that is kept S1174.

S12. A college
yearbook printed in Texas in 1964, which knew nothing of any of that, records his home
town as
Alameda S45. It is a contemporaneous,
college-published record arriving at the same place from an unrelated direction. The same
roster lists
"Coffman, Nancy — Pasadena", which is where Earl's mother grew up
S45S1 — the two
of them on one student roster, in what is on present evidence the same year they married.
Withheld under the privacy rule: his age at either marriage, the state file
numbers of both marriage records, his address, his business, and the people-search
profile used only to cross-check a date already held by the family.
His date of birth is published here at Earl's express instruction, 13 September
2026, because it is the fact that closes the paternal wall and it comes from a state
birth index rather than from the family. That was a deliberate, named exception to the
living-adult rule as it then stood.
That rule is now gone. On
21 September
2026 Earl replaced it:
living adults are published in full, and only
minors are held back — named, and nothing else. So this date is no longer an
exception to anything; it is simply the first one that was published. What stays off
this card stays off for its own reasons, not the old rule's: his address, his business,
and the state file numbers
S24S43.

LivingSubject of this record
- Birthplace not published on this page — the family obituary records the young couple living
there when their first son was born S1, and the
Texas Marriage Index corroborates the year S2.
Year withheld here.
- Married Kristin M. Caffey in a ceremony on Guam, 1994; the marriage was registered in Travis County, Texas (Texas Marriage Index, 1994)
S2, because Texas allowed them to
marry by affirmation rather than oath — a Quaker scruple Guam made no accommodation for
(Earl Proeger’s account, 22 Sep 2026 S24). The Travis County
record is the one that establishes Kristin's maiden name.
More · 1 further fact
- Three children with Kristin — Maia, and the twins Evelyn and
Axel. Their names are all this page publishes about them: no dates, no
birth years, no ages, no schools, no places.

Georg Melchior Julius Prüger
WürttembergProbableEvidence: His son's 1844 baptism and his own 1870 burial entry, both read from the register. Weak or missing: His 1804 birth register has now been read too; it names his mother as Anna Maria Busch, so the parents on his burial entry are his father and stepmother. Not yet confirmed. Know more? Confirm or correct this →
4th great-grandfather · 1804–1870
- Father: Johann Leonhard David Prüger Confirmed
- Mother: Anna Maria Busch Confirmed — named in his own 1804 birth register S591. His father's second wife, Eva Barbara Schmidt, was his stepmother
- Born 25 July 1804, Erkenbrechtshausen, Württemberg S12
- Died 4 February 1870, Württemberg S12
- Father of Julius Karl Proeger (the immigrant) S12
- Bürger und Schuhmachermeister — citizen and master shoemaker — on his son's
baptism register, Kirchberg an der Jagst, 28 April 1844
S69
- 🆕 A shoemaker at the end of his life too — his own burial entry says so,
21 September 2026. Image 639 of the same register has now been read at his own
row: burial entry no. 3 of 1870, which names him
Schuhmachermeister in Kirchberg a/J.
S135.
That resolves the conflict this card carried for a day. Three parish entries
name his trade: his son's baptism in 1844
S69 and his own burial in
1870 S135 both say
shoemaker; only his widow's entry of August 1872
S133 calls him a
Schullehrer — a schoolteacher — and that one was written two years after
he was dead, in a column describing a late husband. Two contemporaneous
readings against one posthumous one. The Schullehrer reading stays on
this page as a recorded variant; it is not deleted, and a village schoolteacher
really was often a tradesman with letters. But the trade this page carries for him
is master shoemaker
- 🆕 The 1870 entry checks its own arithmetic. It gives his age at death as
65 years, 6 months and 10 days — which counts forward from the birth it
records, 25 July 1804, to exactly 4 February 1870, the death date it
records. Birth and death corroborate each other inside a single record,
which no index can do. He was buried on 7 February 1870 at ten in the morning
S135
- 🆕 His parents are no longer index-only. Until 21 September 2026 their names
sat on this card on the strength of a transcription. They have now been read off the
register image, and it gives more than the index held: his father
Johann Leonhard David Prüger was a Maler — a painter — in
Erkenbrechtshausen, the same village recorded as Georg's own birthplace
S12; the entry names as his mother
Eva Barbara, née Schmid, a maiden name no index carried. Both were marked
dead by February 1870. ⚠️ Eva Barbara was his stepmother: his 1804 birth register, read 25 September 2026, names his mother as Anna Maria Busch S591. ⚠️ Her surname may be written Schmid or
Schmidt — the last stroke does not decide it, and it is not forced here

Elisabethe Sabina Loesch
WürttembergProbableEvidence: Her 1872 burial entry, read from the register, and her son's 1924 Pittsburgh death certificate. Weak or missing: Her given name differs between registers (Elisabeth Catharina in 1844), and her birth is from a family tree. Not yet confirmed. Know more? Confirm or correct this →
4th great-grandmother · 1803–1872
- Father: Johann Heinrich Melchior Lösch Probable confirm or correct →
- 🆕 Her mother: Maria Dorothea Wolf Probable confirm or correct →, by the indexes of her baptism S840 and of her 1835 marriage S122. What is weak: both are indexes, and her own 1872 burial entry, read from the register, calls her mother Maria Dorothea geb. Muck S133; the maiden name is unresolved. added 28 September 2026.
- Born spring 1803, Crailsheim, Württemberg S12S133
- Elisabethe Sabina Loesch died 12 August 1872 at 5 a.m., a widow of Kirchberg u. Oa.; buried
14 August 1872 at ten in the morning — her own burial entry,
burial entry no. 534, read from the register image
S133
- 🆕 Her parents, named for the first time in this record, 21 September 2026.
Father Johann Heinrich Melchior Lösch, Glasermeister — master glazier —
of Crailsheim; mother Maria Dorothea geb. Muck. Both are marked
deceased in the 1872 entry S133
- Her surname is Lösch, and it is settled. The Württemberg index reads the
Kurrent of this entry as a different surname altogether; the register itself names
her father a Lösch of Crailsheim, which is also the birthplace the German
deaths index gives her. It is corroborated on another continent: her son Julius
Karl's 1924 Pittsburgh death certificate gives his mother's maiden name as
"Lossetta Loesch" — the given name garbled by an informant who never saw a
Württemberg register, the surname right
S68S133
- Wife of Georg Melchior Julius Prüger, mother of Julius Karl Proeger
S12
- ⚠ Her given name is still not settled, and a second ORIGINAL now backs Sabina. The 1844 Kirchberg baptism of her son calls her Elisabeth Catharina geb. Lösch S69; a Schwieberdingen family register, written by a different parish for a different purpose, calls her Elisabeth Sabina geb. Lösch S159. Two contemporaneous registers disagree and neither is overturned here. Her son's 1924 death certificate adds a third form, Lossetta S68. ⚠ That same Schwieberdingen page names a daughter, Christiane Juliane Prüger (1838–1911), and rejects Ancestry's offered residence of Schwieberdingen for her — she is named there as an absent parent, at Kirchberg.
More · 2 further facts
- ⚠️ Her date of birth is not settled, and is not going to be forced. The
register states her age at death as 69 years, 3 months, 14 days, which counts
back to late April 1803 — not the 26 May 1803 the index offers. Those
digits sit at the edge of legibility even at full resolution. The image establishes
spring 1803 at Crailsheim and no more; the record that would settle it is her
baptism at Crailsheim, which is not in hand
S133
- Name variants: Elisabeth Catharina (parish register), Elisabethe Sabina
(FamilySearch index), Lossetta (death certificate) S12

Nancy A. Proeger, senior portrait, 1955 — George Washington High School yearbook, Guam
S311. Photo supplied by Earl Proeger.
- Born 6 April 1937, Niles, California S275
Confirmed — her own 1955 Oregon record of marriage gives
Niles, California and 6 April 1937; the Social Security Death Index gives the same day
S298. An earlier version of this card placed her birth in
Texas on family testimony; that was an error. Earl, 23 September 2026: she was never in Texas.
- Died 9 January 1973, Wallowa County, Oregon, aged 35, as Nancy Wortman, her married name at her death S298
Confirmed — Oregon Death Index, certificate 73-01723; the Social Security Death Index
agrees (born 6 April 1937, died January 1973). Earl recalls 1973, and Eileen's c. 1996 list already calls her deceased
S205. An earlier version of this card gave a 2025 date in Austin;
that was an error, carried over from Earl's mother, Nancy Martin Coffman Proeger.
- Took her own life, as reported on the front page of the Wallowa County Chieftain, Thursday
11 January 1973 S343
Confirmed — the paper says she died on Tuesday 9 January of a
rifle shot, alone in a pickup parked near the boat ramp at the foot of Wallowa Lake, after a day-long search;
she was found about 8:30 that evening. She was living in Enterprise and working at the Wallowa County Nursing
Home, having earlier worked at the Fireplace, the Elks Lodge and the Gold Room in Joseph. The paper names her
Nancy Belcourt Wortman, 35, twice divorced, and says she was survived by two daughters living with their father,
Robert Belcourt, at Fort Huachuca, Arizona, and by a son and a daughter who had been living with her.
The full obituary promised for the following week has not yet been found.
- Daughter of William Harry Proeger and Aileane Marie Silva
S24
- Predated the 1940 marriage; Earl's direct testimony identifies William Harry
as her father S24
- Grew up in the household of her stepfather, Earl Theodore Roberts: the 1950 census finds her
at 13 at 219C Brush St, Alameda, with her mother, Roberts, Patricia and William, all three children enumerated as Roberts
S215
- A senior at George Washington High School, Guam, in 1955, having transferred in 1954 from Astoria High School, Oregon; Junior Class Secretary S311 Confirmed
- 🆕 One of her daughters by Robert Belcourt was Elain Annett Belcourt, born in Texas in 1961. The state birth index names her parents as Robert George Belcourt and Nancy Aileen Proger [Proeger] Confirmed S1125.

- Research status: CONFIRMED — named as father of Anna Blanche Roberts in sources S90, S91 and S92.
- Born November 1854, West Virginia S90S92
- Father of Anna Blanche Roberts, with Rose A. Williams S90S91S92
- 🆕 Added 24 September 2026. In 1900 his wife Rose A., born November 1854 in West Virginia, had borne 13 children, 7 then living S92. Their son Harry, born 1889 at Bellaire, was in 1940 a glass-company laborer at Lansing, Belmont County, Ohio, with his wife Amelia and their daughters S352.
- 🆕 A likely childhood household: in 1860 H. S. L. Roberts, 5, born Ohio, was in a Roberts household at Martinsville (Martins Ferry), Belmont County, Ohio Probable confirm or correct → S1049. Evidence: the initials and age fit a November 1854 birth, and the family is just across the river from Wheeling. Johann Leonhard David Prüger
ConfirmedFather of Georg Melchior Julius Prüger · 1772–1806
- Research status: CONFIRMED — his own baptism, both marriages and his burial have now been read from the register images S594S595S592S593
- Born 5 June 1772, Erkenbrechtshausen, baptised the next day at Triensbach, Württemberg, the son of Johann Michael Pröger and Anna Margaretha Raisig S594
- A master weaver at Erkenbrechtshausen in 1796, 1806 and at his father's death; the 1804 birth register calls him Tüncher Mstr., a master whitewasher, and his son's 1870 burial entry a Maler S595S591S12
- 🆕 First married Anna Maria Busch, November 1796 (banns at Ellrichshausen, wedding at Triensbach). Their first son, Johann Michael Pröger, was born at Erkenbrechtshausen on 15 April 1797 and baptised that day at Triensbach, Georg Melchior Julius's full brother Confirmed S623. She is the mother of Georg Melchior Julius Prüger, born 25 July 1804 S595S591. 🆕 Johann Michael, a day labourer at Großaltdorf, married Anna Barbara Hübner of Großaltdorf (born 27 April 1801) there on 17 June 1829 Confirmed S737S779; the Großaltdorf copy of the entry also names the bride's mother, Anna Catharina (surname unclear, perhaps Frinauer); the index’s 17 January is wrong. Their children, all baptised at Großaltdorf: Margaretha Barbara (20 January 1829–23 January 1831), Johann Georg (1830–1904), Johann Simon (1832), Johann Friedrich (1834–1907) and Barbara (1843) Probable — the baptisms of the three sons are index entries only, their images not yet read S739. 🆕 Two of the daughters' entries have now been read. Margaretha Barbara was born on 20 January 1829, five months before her parents married, and died of convulsions on 23 January 1831, aged two; she was buried on 25 January, the date the index and the tree took for her death Confirmed S788. Barbara was born on 8 January 1843 and baptised on 12 January, the daughter of J. M. Pröger, citizen and day labourer, and Anna Barbara geb. Hübner Confirmed S789. added 27 September 2026 Add to this record →. 🆕 Two of the sons' burial entries have now been read. Johann Georg, an unmarried cottager, died at Kleinaltdorf on 28 February 1904 and was buried at Großaltdorf on 2 March Confirmed S778. Johann Friedrich, a weaver, died at Hausen on 31 May 1907 and was buried at Untersontheim on 2 June Confirmed S777; the index had put his death at Merkelbach. His burial entry gives his birth as 30 September 1834, where the tree has 6 October (perhaps the baptism); the 1834 baptism would settle it. added 26 September 2026. No emigration record is found for him.
- 🆕 Married second, as a widower, 4 March 1806 at Triensbach, Eva Barbara Schmidt, daughter of Johann Michael Schmidt, master weaver at Brettenfeld. She was Georg Melchior Julius's stepmother. The index's 2 March is the last reading of the banns S592
- Died of a fever at Erkenbrechtshausen in December 1806, aged 34; buried 21 December. His son Georg Friedrich was born ten weeks later S593. 🆕 Georg Friedrich became a weaver at Erkenbrechtshausen like his father and married Maria Margaretha Stegmaier at Triensbach on 20 September 1836 Confirmed S738. 🆕 He was dead by September 1864, when their son Georg Friedrich (born 25 December 1838) married Margaretha Barbara Bauer of Gröningen at Triensbach; the register calls the father “† Georg Friedrich Pröger, weaver and cottager” S775. 🆕 That couple's daughter Rosine Barbara Pröger was born at Erkenbrechtshausen on 15 September 1865; she married Georg Friedrich Osterlein at Triensbach on 26 March 1889 and died on 26 October 1952 Confirmed S790. added 27 September 2026. Maria Margaretha married again, to Johann Leonhard Frank, a weaver at Erkenbrechtshausen, and died his widow at Triensbach on 16 May 1887; her burial entry names her parents, Georg Simon Stegmaier and Katharina Batz S776. Both entries carry family register II,343. A second Georg Friedrich Pröger, a living master weaver (register II,344), was at Erkenbrechtshausen in 1864, so the register number is what ties these to ours. added 26 September 2026.

Hanß Pröger
ProbableEvidence: The 1704 Michelbach marriage register, which names him as the groom's father, a farmer at Seibotenberg; his own second marriage, as a widower, in the Michelbach register of 7 November 1699. Weak or missing: Two entries only; his dates, his first wife, his other children and his own parents have not been found. The two candidates for his father come from a later copy of the baptism register, not the original, and no record yet links either one to him. Not yet confirmed. Know more? Confirm or correct this →
Father of Hans Pröger · farmer at Seibotenberg
- Research status: PROBABLE — named only once, as the father of the groom in the 1704 marriage register, read from the image S607. Added 26 September 2026
- A farmer at Seibotenberg, a hamlet of Michelbach an der Heide parish, now part of Gerabronn; Pröger households are recorded there from 1709 to 1726 S610
- Father of Hans (Johann) Pröger, who married at Triensbach in 1704 S607
- 🆕 A widower by 1699: on 7 November 1699 at Michelbach an der Heide, “Hannß Pröger, Bauer zu Seibothenberg … ein Wittiber” married Regina, widow of the late Jörg W[einmann?] S666. So Hans’s mother had died before then, and Regina was his stepmother. added 26 September 2026.
- 🆕 Who his father was is not known. Two Seibotenberg farmers are candidates, below. His own baptism, which would settle it, has not been found. added 26 September 2026.
- 🆕 Leading candidate for his father: Hans Pröger and his wife Anna, of Seibotenberg Probable, weak Evidence: a later-hand copy of the Seibotenberg baptisms, which begins in 1651, lists their sons Leonhard, baptised 21 August 1652, and Melchior, 15 June 1655, probably the Leonhard and Melchior Pröger who married at Michelbach in 1681 and 1677; a Johannes Pröger stands godfather there in March 1651; and Anna was a widow by October 1665 S674. On that reading Hanß would be an elder son, born before the copy starts. Weak or missing: Hanß’s baptism would predate the register; the copy is not the original; and no record names his father or links him to this household. Know more? Add to this record → added 26 September 2026.
- 🆕 Second candidate: Philipp Pröger, a farmer at Seibotenberg Probable, weak Evidence: buried at Michelbach in March 1705 aged “77 less a quarter year”, so born about 1628, old enough to be Hanß’s father; he married Apollonia Sch[..]lerin at Michelbach on 1 August 1676, probably as a widower S673. Weak or missing: no record names any child of his; he could as well be Hanß’s elder brother or uncle; nothing links him to Hanß. Know more? Add to this record → added 26 September 2026.
- 🆕 Where he died is not known. He was not buried at Michelbach in 1704 or 1705 (both years read in full), and the Michelbach burials for January 1706 to 1721 are missing from the film S673. He was not buried at Triensbach, where his son farmed, between 1705 and 1721 either S675. added 26 September 2026.
- His dates and his first wife’s name are not known

Hans Schuster
ProbableEvidence: Elisabetha Schuster's 1678 Lendsiedel baptism names her father Hans Schuster of Nieder-Schmerach; the 1676 Lendsiedel marriage and the 1699 Ilshofen remarriage, as a widower of Unter-Schmerach, fit the same man; all read from the register images. Weak or missing: Each is a single register entry, a second Hans Schuster in the hamlet is not ruled out, and his baptism and burial are not found. Not yet confirmed. Know more? Confirm or correct this →
Father of Elisabetha Schuster · of Unter-Schmerach
- Research status: PROBABLE. Elisabetha Schuster’s 1678 Lendsiedel baptism names her father as Hans Schuster of Nieder-Schmerach and her mother Maria S609; the 1676 Lendsiedel marriage of Hans Schuster of Unter-Schmerach and Anna Maria Gronbach, and his 1699 second marriage as a widower of Unter-Schmerach, fit the same man S805S806. All read from the register images. What is weak: each is a single register entry, and a second Hans Schuster in the hamlet cannot be ruled out. Added 29 September 2026
- Son of Michel Schuster, by a partly legible margin note on his 1676 marriage Probable confirm or correct → S805
- Married Anna Maria Gronbach at Lendsiedel on 29 February 1676 S805
- Father of Elisabetha Schuster, baptised at Lendsiedel on 18 November 1678 S609
- As “Johannes Schuster, widower of Unter-Schmerach”, he married second Anna Barbara Schuhmann, daughter of Jörg Schuhmann, at Ilshofen on 22 August 1699 S806
- His baptism and his burial are not found

Anna Maria Gronbach
ProbableEvidence: The 1676 Lendsiedel marriage names her as the daughter of Hans Gronbach the younger of Groß-Allmerspann, and Elisabetha's 1678 baptism names her parents Hans Schuster and Maria; a Langenburg baptism of December 1652 records Anna Maria, child of Johannes Gronbach and Eva; all read from the register images. Weak or missing: Her place as Elisabetha's mother rests on single entries; the 1652 child is taken to be the 1676 bride only because the father, hamlet and name match; her burial is not found. Not yet confirmed. Know more? Confirm or correct this →
Mother of Elisabetha Schuster · 1652–before 1699
- Research status: PROBABLE as the mother of Elisabetha Schuster. Elisabetha’s 1678 baptism names her parents as Hans Schuster of Nieder-Schmerach and Maria S609, and Hans Schuster of Unter-Schmerach married Anna Maria Gronbach at Lendsiedel in 1676 S805. Both read from the register images. What is weak: each is a single register entry, and a second Hans Schuster in the hamlet cannot be ruled out. Her own father is confirmed by the 1676 entry. Added 29 September 2026
- Daughter of Hans (Johannes) Gronbach the younger, a farmer at Groß-Allmerspann, as the 1676 marriage states S805; her mother was probably Eva Kreber Probable confirm or correct → S837
- Baptised at Langenburg in December 1652, the daughter of Johannes Gronbach of Groß-Allmerspann and Eva S837. This is taken to be the same Anna Maria because the father, the hamlet and the given name all match; she would have been 23 at her marriage
- Married Hans Schuster of Unter-Schmerach at Lendsiedel on 29 February 1676 S805
- Mother of Elisabetha Schuster S609
- She died before 22 August 1699, when Hans remarried as a widower S806. Her burial has not been found. Some trees call her only “Maria”, as the 1678 baptism does

Hans (Johannes) Gronbach
ConfirmedFather of Anna Maria Gronbach · farmer at Groß-Allmerspann
- Research status: CONFIRMED as the father of Anna Maria Gronbach. The Lendsiedel marriage register of 29 February 1676 names the bride as “Anna Maria, Hannß Gronbachs deß jüngern, [Bauers] zu großen Allmerspann, ehelich ledige Tochter”, the legitimate daughter of Hans Gronbach the younger, farmer at Groß-Allmerspann S805; and the Langenburg baptism register for December 1652 records Anna Maria, child of Johannes Gronbach of Groß-Allmerspann and Eva S837. Both were read from the register images. Added 29 September 2026
- Father of Anna Maria Gronbach, baptised at Langenburg in December 1652, who married Hans Schuster at Lendsiedel in 1676 S805S837
- Married Eva Kreber (Kerber), surviving daughter of the late Jörg Kreber of Groß-Allmerspann, on 27 November 1649, by the Langenburg marriage register S836
- Called “the younger” because his father was also a Hans Gronbach of Groß-Allmerspann: the 1649 marriage calls him the legitimate son of Hans Gronbach S836
- ⚠️ Not the Hans Gronbach who was a baker at Untermünkheim. That man’s daughter Anna Maria, christened 28 December 1653, had a mother named Margaretha, and FamilySearch indexes an Anna Maria Gronbach, born 1653, daughter of Johann, who died at Hall on 20 November 1669 (1:1:QP5Q-VYQK), years before the 1676 marriage
- His baptism and burial appear in card indexes, but those register images have not been read, so no dates are given here

Eva Kreber
ProbableEvidence: Her 1649 marriage to Hans Gronbach of Groß-Allmerspann, as the surviving daughter of the late Jörg Kreber, and the December 1652 Langenburg baptism of Anna Maria to Johannes Gronbach and Eva; both read from the register images. Weak or missing: The 1676 marriage names only Anna Maria's father, so the link rests on the 1652 child being the 1676 bride; her death is not found; her 1631 baptism, which names her father Georg Kreber, is now read (S1077). Not yet confirmed. Know more? Confirm or correct this →
Probable mother of Anna Maria Gronbach
- Research status: PROBABLE. Eva, the surviving daughter of the late Jörg Kreber (or Kerber) of Groß-Allmerspann, married Hans Gronbach, son of Hans Gronbach of the same place, on 27 November 1649 S836; and in December 1652 an Anna Maria was baptised at Langenburg to Johannes Gronbach of Groß-Allmerspann and Eva S837. Both read from the register images. What is weak: the 1676 marriage of Anna Maria names only her father S805, so the link rests on the 1652 child being the 1676 bride (the same father, hamlet and given name). Added 29 September 2026
- Probable mother of Anna Maria Gronbach S837
- Married Hans (Johannes) Gronbach on 27 November 1649 S836
- 🆕 Baptised 22 November 1631 at Langenburg, the child of Georg Kreber of Groß-Allmerspach and Maria, by the Langenburg baptism register, read from the image Confirmed S1077. Michel Schuster
ProbableEvidence: A margin insertion beside Hans Schuster's 1676 Lendsiedel marriage makes the groom the son of a late Michel Schüster. Probable father of Hans Schuster · dead by 1676
- Research status: PROBABLE. A margin insertion beside Hans Schuster’s 1676 marriage entry reads roughly “u. Michel Schüsters deß gewesenen …bauern zu Kl…”, making the groom the son of a late Michel Schüster S805. What is weak: the words after “gewesenen” and the place name are not legible, and no baptism of Hans has been found. Added 29 September 2026

Edward Gregg
ConfirmedFather of Ethel Gregg Proeger · 1849–1905
- Research status: CONFIRMED as the father of Ethel Gregg, wife of Frederick Albert Proeger. Ethel’s 1957 Pennsylvania death certificate, read from the image, names her father as Edward Gregg and her mother as Elizabeth Darling S423; the 1880 census, read from the image, has Edward Gregg, 30, working in a planing mill at Carmichaels, Greene County, with his wife Lizzie, 26, and daughters Ethel, 4, and Mabel, 1 S416. FamilySearch indexes the same household as 1:1:MWFF-3W2, with Edward as Ethel’s father. Added to the tree on Earl’s approval of 28 September 2026. Added 29 September 2026; his birth, death and parents added the same day from the Pittsburgh registers, read from the images
- Father of Ethel Gregg (1875–1957), who married Frederick Albert Proeger in 1896 S417S423, and of Mabel Gregg, born 17 November 1878 at Carmichaels, who married William Spicer MacDonald in Westmoreland County on 21 November 1906 and died on 30 January 1968; her own death certificate names her parents as Edward Gregg and Elizabeth Darling S930S931
- Husband of Elizabeth “Lizzie” Darling S416S423
- Born 11 September 1849 in Greene County, Pennsylvania, by his own statement on his 1892 marriage docket S926; his age at death, 56 years and 7 days, fits S927, and so does his age of 30 in 1880 S416. He is Edwin, 8 months old, in Alfred and Mary Gregg’s household in Cumberland Township, Greene County, in 1850 S928, and Edwin, 10, in the same household in 1860 S929
- Son of Alfred Gregg and Mary Gregg, both born in Greene County, as his death register names them S927 Confirmed
- Died 19 September 1905 at 681 South Lang Avenue, Pittsburgh (22nd Ward), a contractor, aged 56, of heart disease, and buried at Carmichaels on 22 September 1905; the register names him Edwin Alexander Gregg S927. The same undertaker had buried Lizzie in 1891 S925
- Married secondly, on 28 September 1892 at Pittsburgh, Sarah E. Wright, born in Washington County on 28 December 1861. The docket calls the groom Augustus E. Gregg, a contractor of the 20th Ward, born in Greene County on 11 September 1849, whose first marriage had been ended by his wife’s death S926 Probable confirm or correct →
- What is weak or missing: his records use three names. He is Edward in the 1880 census and on both daughters’ death certificates, Augustus E. on the 1892 docket and Edwin Alexander on the death register, and no record explains Augustus. That the Augustus E. Gregg of 1892 is the same man rests on the matching birth date, the ward and his widowhood, not on any record that says so. His first marriage, to Lizzie about 1875, has not been found
- 🆕 His daughter Mabel lived with her husband William S. MacDonald in Greensburg, Westmoreland County: at 550 Harrison Avenue in 1920 S1028, and at 224 Underwood Avenue in 1930, 1940 and 1950 S1029S1030S1031, the address on her death certificate Confirmed. Her 1930 age, 47, is about four years short. added 29 September 2026
- 🆕 In June 1870 he was living with his mother, Mary Gregg, 65, in the Borough of Carmichaels, Greene County, as Augustus E., 20, a carpenter born in Pennsylvania; Mary owned real estate worth $7,500 Confirmed S1034. Alfred is not in the household, so Mary was probably a widow by 1870. This fills the gap between the 1860 household and his 1880 work at the planing mill. added 29 September 2026

- What is weak: her maiden name Darling rests on her two daughters’ death certificates S423S931 and on Mabel’s middle name, Darling, in her 1906 marriage docket S930; the 1891 register gives only the initial D. Her parents and her marriage, about 1875, have not been found. The birth date of 21 June 1853 and the middle initial “B” that some trees give her are unsourced, and 1853 is a year earlier than her ages allow

Jane Bell
TexasProbableEvidence: A FamilySearch family tree and family testimony. Weak or missing: No birth, marriage or death record has been read; c.1879 and 1955 are unsourced. William Leonard Proeger's wife until her death in August 1942 was Anna Blanche Roberts, and his own 1955 death notices name no wife, so a marriage to Jane Bell could only fall between August 1942 and December 1955, and none has been found. Not yet confirmed. Know more? Confirm or correct this →
Possible wife of William Leonard Proeger Sr · c.1879–1955
⚠ Not to be confused with Jane Bell (Martin), c.1794–1798, of Sumner County, Tennessee — Earl's 3rd-great-grandmother and the wife of Peter Hines Martin. Two different women, four generations apart, with the same name. No Sumner County fact belongs on this card.
- Born c.1879, Texas S12
- Died 1955 S12
- Wife of William Leonard Proeger Sr (1876–1955), as a family tree has it; not proven, see the hold below S12S24
- ⚠️ Not the mother of William Harry Proeger. A family tree and family testimony listed her as his mother S24, but his own sworn 1932 Ohio licence application gives his mother's maiden name as Anna B. Roberts S144, and Anna Blanche was William Leonard's wife until she died in August 1942 S1175. William Harry's mother is Anna Blanche Roberts.
- ⚠️ Hold on the marriage. William Leonard's death notices of 15 and 16 December 1955 list his children and sisters and name no wife S1176S1177. She stays on the record only as a possible later wife, until a Los Angeles County marriage record of 1942–1955 turns up.

Johann Adam Scheuermann
ConfirmedFather of Maria Margaretha (Scheuermann) Hartweck
- Research status: CONFIRMED as Maria Margaretha's father — her own marriage entry in the Gerabronn register, 8 April 1766, calls her Maria Margaretha Scheuermännin, the daughter of Johann Adam Scheuermann of Gerabronn S814, and the Gerabronn baptism register for 1743 records a Maria Margaretha born to him S815. Both read from the register images
- Father of Maria Margaretha (Scheuermann) Hartweck
- A Brandenburg subject, a Köbler (smallholder) and the common herdsman (Gemeiner Hirt) of Gerabronn S815S835
- A widower when he married Eva Margaretha Stapf, daughter of the late Andreas Stapf of Wollmershausen, on 16 January 1742, by the Gerabronn marriage register S835. His first wife is not yet named
- His birth and death are not documented. The years 1692 and 1744 in some trees are not supported by any record read

Eva Margaretha Stapf
ProbableEvidence: The 1743 Gerabronn baptism of Maria Margaretha names her mother as Johann Adam Scheuermann's wife Eva Margaretha (the clerk corrected Maria to Eva), and the 1742 marriage register, with the same correction, makes Eva Margaretha the daughter of the late Andreas Stapf of Wollmershausen; both read from the register images. Weak or missing: Johann Adam was a widower in January 1742 and the 1766 marriage names only the bride's father, so an elder Maria Margaretha by his first wife is not ruled out; the day of the 1743 baptism is on an unread leaf. Not yet confirmed. Know more? Confirm or correct this →
Probable mother of Maria Margaretha (Scheuermann) Hartweck
- Research status: PROBABLE — accepted by Earl 28 September 2026 pending more evidence. The Gerabronn baptism register for 1743 names the mother of Maria Margaretha, daughter of Johann Adam Scheuermann, as his wife Margaretha, the clerk striking out “Maria” and writing “Eva” S815; the 1742 marriage entry, with the same correction, makes Eva Margaretha the daughter of the late Andreas Stapf S835. What is weak: Johann Adam was a widower when he married her in January 1742, and the 1766 marriage names only the bride's father S814, so an elder Maria Margaretha by his first wife cannot be ruled out, though a bride of 23 in 1766 fits the child of 1743
- Probable mother of Maria Margaretha (Scheuermann) Hartweck; wife of Johann Adam Scheuermann, married 16 January 1742, by the Gerabronn marriage register S835
- Daughter of the late Andreas Stapf (written Stapfens, the genitive form), a subject of the Prince of Comburg and a farmer at Wollmershausen S835
- FamilySearch indexes the same 1742 marriage as 1:1:QPP2-DKBY, and a baptism of a son, Johann Georg, to Johann Adam Schuermann and Eva Margareta as 1:1:QPP2-7PK4 S835

Two FamilySearch-derived indexes, of Elisabethe Sabina Lösch's baptism S840 and of her 1835 marriage at Triensbach to Georg Melchior Julius Proeger S122, name her mother as Maria Dorothea Wolf. What is weak: both are indexes, with no register image read. ⚠️ Elisabethe Sabina's own 1872 burial entry, read from the register, gives her mother as Maria Dorothea geb. Muck and her father's middle name as Heinrich, not Friedrich S133. The given name agrees; the maiden name is in conflict and is not resolved here
- Probable mother of Elisabethe Sabina Loesch; wife of Johann Heinrich Melchior Lösch, a master glazier of Crailsheim (the indexes call him Joh. Friedrich Melchior Lösch) S133S122
- Of Crailsheim, Württemberg S122. She was dead by August 1872: the burial entry marks her deceased S133
- Her birth, marriage and death dates are not found. A Crailsheim baptism register for 1803, or the Triensbach marriage register for 1835, would settle her maiden name

Eva Barbara (Renk)
ConfirmedMother of Georg Michael Renk
- Research status: CONFIRMED as Georg Michael Renk's mother — his burial entry in the Wallhausen register for 1814, no. 8, read from the image, names his parents as Georg Sebastian Renk, a mason at Wallhausen, and Eva Barbara, both Lutheran S921. It is our Georg Michael: a mason at Wallhausen and the widower of Maria Barbara, as in his son Georg Andreas's 1813 marriage entry S443. Confirmed 28 September 2026
- Mother of Georg Michael Renk, and so a 5th-great-grandmother of Minnie Kochendoerfer's children. Wife of Georg Sebastian Renk, a mason at Wallhausen, named in the same entry
- The register gives her given names only. The family tree's surname Kochendörfer, and a birth on 10 July 1703 and death on 24 November 1790, are on no record read and are not published here as fact. FamilySearch indexes the same 1814 burial entry; it is not a second record S922

Elisabetha Schuster
ProbableEvidence: Her 1678 Lendsiedel baptism, her 1701 first marriage and her 1736 Triensbach burial (“born Schuster of Unter-Schmerach”), all read from the register. Weak or missing: The burial age matches the baptism only to within three weeks, and the 1704 Triensbach marriage copy has lost her surname in the binding. Not yet confirmed. Know more? Confirm or correct this →
Wife of Hans Pröger · 1678–1736
- Research status: PROBABLE (strong) — her baptism, first marriage and burial read from the register images, tied together by her burial's "born Schuster of Unter-Schmerach" and its age S609S608. Added 26 September 2026
- Baptised 18 November 1678 at Lendsiedel, Württemberg, daughter of Hans Schuster of Nieder-Schmerach and Maria S609. 🆕 Her mother's full name was Anna Maria Gronbach, by her parents' 1676 marriage Probable confirm or correct → S805
- Daughter of Hans Schuster and Anna Maria Gronbach Probable confirm or correct → S609S805
- Married first, 31 May 1701 at Triensbach, Hans Kochendörffer, son of the late Andreas; he was buried 10 February 1704, aged 32 S609
- Married second, 20 May 1704 at Triensbach, Hans (Johann) Pröger. Mother of Johann Caspar Pröger S607S599
- Buried 17 April 1736 at Triensbach, aged 57, as "Elisabetha Prögerin, gebohrne Schusterin" S608. ⚠️ Some trees call her Elisabetha Kochendörffer: that was her first married name, not her birth name
- 🆕 Her parents, Hans Schuster of Unter-Schmerach and Anna Maria Gronbach, daughter of Hans Gronbach the younger, a farmer at Groß-Allmerspann, married at Lendsiedel on 29 February 1676 Probable confirm or correct → S805. Her father, as “Johannes Schuster, widower of Unter-Schmerach”, married second Anna Barbara Schuhmann, daughter of Jörg Schuhmann, at Ilshofen on 22 August 1699 Probable confirm or correct → S806, so her mother Anna Maria died before August 1699. Evidence: the same name, hamlet (Unter-Schmerach) and parish (Lendsiedel) as her baptism and her 1736 burial. What is weak: each is a single register entry; one cannot rule out a second Hans Schuster in the hamlet, and Anna Maria's burial has not been found. A margin note probably names Hans's late father as Michel Schuster (see below). added 27 September 2026
- 🆕 Her grandfather: her father Hans Schuster was probably the son of Michel Schuster (Schüster), who was dead by February 1676 (his card) Probable confirm or correct → S805. Evidence: a margin insertion beside Hans's 1676 marriage entry reads roughly “u. Michel Schüsters deß gewesenen …bauern zu Kl…”, making the groom the son of a late Michel Schüster. What is weak: the words after “gewesenen” and the place name are not legible, and no baptism of Hans has been found. Online trees that give Michel a birth in 1600 and a death in 1675 merge more than one man and are not followed here. added 28 September 2026
- 🆕 Her grandmother: her mother Anna Maria Gronbach was probably the daughter of Eva Kreber (or Kerber) (her card) Probable confirm or correct →. Evidence: Hans Gronbach, son of Hans Gronbach of Groß-Allmerspann, married Eva, the surviving daughter of the late Jörg Kreber of Groß-Allmerspann, on 27 November 1649 S836, and in December 1652 an Anna Maria was baptised at Langenburg to Johannes Gronbach of Groß-Allmerspann and Eva S837. What is weak: the 1676 marriage names only Anna Maria's father S805, so the link rests on the 1652 child being the 1676 bride (same father, hamlet and given name). The registers call her only Eva; the “Elisabetha” and the dates 1631–1712 in some trees are not supported. added 28 September 2026

Hans (Johann) Pröger
ConfirmedGreat-grandfather of Johann Leonhard David Prüger · c. 1673–1737
- Research status: CONFIRMED as the Triensbach farmer who married in 1704 and fathered Johann Caspar in 1714 and two more sons, read from the register images S607S599. Added 26 September 2026
- Son of Hanß Pröger, a farmer at Seibotenberg in Michelbach an der Heide parish; he came to Triensbach, Württemberg, to take up a farm S607S610
- Married Elisabetha Schuster, the widow of Hans Kochendörffer, 20 May 1704 at Triensbach S607. She was not born a Kochendörffer, and no kinship with Minnie Kochendoerfer's family is implied. 🆕 Her parents were Hans Schuster of Unter-Schmerach and Anna Maria Gronbach, married at Lendsiedel in 1676 Probable confirm or correct → S805
- Father of Johann Caspar Pröger (baptised 21 March 1714), of Johann Michael (married 1734) Probable confirm or correct → — his 1734 marriage names his father only, and no baptism is found — and of Georg Michael (married 1746), all described as sons of the Castenamt Crailsheim farmer at Triensbach S599
- Buried 17 January 1737 at Triensbach as "Johann Pröger, der alte Bauer", aged 63 years 8 months, so born about May 1673 Probable confirm or correct → — the burial is not indexed and is matched by his description S608
- 🆕 Children who died young, buried at Triensbach as children of “Hanß Preger, Bauer allhie” Confirmed: a son buried 30 July 1709, aged 1 year 4 months; a son buried 7 April 1713, aged 3 years 4 months; a son buried 20 October 1716, 12 days old; and “his youngest little daughter Maria Margaretha”, buried 18 June 1720, 4 days old S740. Only Maria Margaretha is named. Two more 1709 burials under his name are not counted as his children: a boy buried 15 August, aged 2 or 7 (the digit is unclear, and 2 would put his birth only seven months from the July boy’s), and a girl aged 6, buried 15 September, born before the 1704 marriage. Both were probably Elisabetha’s children by her first husband, Hans Kochendörffer Probable Add to this record → added 26 September 2026.

- Son of Julius Karl Proeger and Minnie Kochendoerfer; the Pennsylvania births and christenings index names his parents as Julius and Mina Prager
- Born 24 November 1873, Pittsburgh; died 8 October 1947, Greensburg, Pennsylvania — his Pennsylvania death certificate
- Married Ethel Gregg, 30 September 1896, Washington County, Pennsylvania
- 🆕 The marriage licence, no. 6460, reads “Fred Proeger to Ethel Gregg”; the date and county above come from its index S417. Ethel Gregg was born on 27 November 1875 at Carmichaels, Greene County, the daughter of Edward Gregg and Elizabeth Darling S423, and at 4 she was living there with her parents and her sister Mabel S416. Fred was a musician all his working life. In 1900 the couple rented on North Pennsylvania Avenue in Greensburg with their daughter Eleanor, born February 1898 S418. In 1910 he “teaches & plays”, at 131 North Maple Avenue S419. In 1920 he was a piano teacher in the same house, and Eleanor, 21, was a conservatory student S420. In 1930 they rented in Greensburg Ward 4 S421. In 1940 he was a church organist and musician at 533 Fremont Avenue S422. Ethel outlived him by ten years; she died at Greensburg on 19 February 1957 and was buried at St. Clair Cemetery S423. added 25 September 2026.

- 🆕 In 1950 his widow, Ethel G. Proeger, 74, headed her own household at 109 West Third Street, Greensburg S733. added 26 September 2026.
- 🆕 Their daughter: Eleanor E. (or G.) Proeger, born February 1898 in Pennsylvania Confirmed. She is in her parents' household in all three censuses: in 1900, aged 2 S418; in 1910, aged 12, at school, written “Eleanor E.” S419; and in 1920, aged 21, single, a conservatory student, written “Eleanor G.” S420. The two censuses give her second initial differently, so it is shown as E. (or G.). The 1910 return says Ethel had borne one child, and Eleanor is the only one in any census. Her marriage and later life are not yet found. added 27 September 2026.
- 🆕 Ethel's parents Confirmed: her father Edward Gregg, born 11 September 1849 in Greene County, Pennsylvania, a planing-mill worker at Carmichaels, Greene County, in 1880; and her mother Elizabeth “Lizzie” Darling, born about 1854 in Virginia. Ethel's 1957 death certificate names Edward Gregg and Elizabeth Darling as her parents S423, and the 1880 census has Edward, 30, wife Lizzie, 26, and daughters Ethel, 4, and Mabel, 1, in one household S416; both read from the images, and FamilySearch indexes the same household (1:1:MWFF-3W2). Her sister Mabel Gregg, born 17 November 1878 at Carmichaels, Confirmed: Mabel's own 1968 death certificate names the same parents S931. Lizzie died at Pittsburgh on 30 May 1891 S925 and Edward there on 19 September 1905 S927; both were buried at Carmichaels. What is weak: Edward's and Lizzie's marriage, about 1875, has not been found. Added as Probable 28 September 2026; relabelled Confirmed for the parents 29 September 2026, and for Mabel the same day.
- 🆕 Probably their daughter Eleanor married: in 1940 she was Eleanor Shrum, 41, born Pennsylvania, in Greensburg with her husband Paul L. Shrum, 41, attorney at law, and their children William, 10, and Jane, 7 Probable confirm or correct → S999. Evidence: Paul L. Shrum was the informant on Ethel's 1957 death certificate at Greensburg S423, and the age and birthplace fit. Weak: no Shrum–Proeger marriage record has been read. Know more? Use “Add to this record”. added 29 September 2026
- 🆕 The 1977 Virginia marriage record of their granddaughter Jane Shrum, born 1932, of Greensburg, names her father as Paul Shrum and gives her mother’s maiden name as Eleanore Proeger Confirmed S1136. That puts in writing the Shrum–Proeger marriage proposed above. Eleanor’s place as this couple’s daughter still rests on the census and on Ethel’s death certificate.

By 1950 he was a tool and die maker at an electrical-plug factory in Los Angeles S354. He is the uncle of Earl's father William Leonard Proeger (b. 1941), not his son: an earlier version of the site wrongly put these two censuses on that card (corrected 29 September 2026).
- Married Ovalline Mabel Dubuque (born 24 April 1913, Kent County, Ontario; died 1 October 1956, Los Angeles); father of Richard F. Proeger Jr., born 1936 S11
- 🆕 Ovalline Mabel's mother was probably Helen (Hélène) Dubuque, née Labutte Probable confirm or correct →: the 1921 census of Canada for Wallaceburg, Kent County, Ontario, read from the image, lists Mabel, 8, daughter, born Ontario, in the household of the widowed Helen Dubuque, 43, with Harvy, Gertrude, Herbie and William S883. An Ontario marriage register, read from the index, records Helene Labutte's marriage to Jules Dubuc and names her parents as Francois Labutte and Agnes Lanzon S884. What is weak: the census gives only “Mabel”, and the parents on her 1913 birth registration have not been read, so nothing yet ties this Mabel to Ovalline by document; no record read names her father. Accepted by Earl on 28 September 2026 pending more evidence. added 28 September 2026.
- 🆕 The 1937 Oakland directory lists him as R. F. Proger, glass moulder, with his wife Mable, at 1364 82nd Avenue Confirmed S1166. The surname is misspelled.

- 🆕 Her second husband's father was probably Hans S. Helgedalen Probable confirm or correct →: Clay County, Minnesota, school census entries of 1939–43 at Ulen, read from the FamilySearch index, name Hans Helgedalen as the parent of Charles Helgedalen, born 5 March 1926 S877. The 1930 census of Goose Prairie Township, Clay County, read from the image, lists Hans S. Helgedalen, 50, a farmer born in Minnesota to a Norwegian-born father S875, and the next sheet lists Charles E., 4, as his son, with Hans's wife Beulah S876. What is weak: the school census has been read only as an index; Hans's middle name, given in family trees as Silas, and his birth and death dates are on no document read. Accepted by Earl on 28 September 2026 pending more evidence. added 28 September 2026.
- 🆕 Probably her in Oakland, California, about 1943: “DeBelling Warren E (Nancy) mach h9234 Sunnyside”, Warren a machinist, living at 9234 Sunnyside Probable confirm or correct → S1000. - 🆕 Probably her family in 1870: at Bellaire, Ohio, Rosa A. Williams, 15, was at home with Mary A. Williams, 52, who kept boarders, and Angeline, 23 Probable confirm or correct → S1153. The evidence is her name, her age (15 fits the November 1854 birth in the 1900 census S92) and Bellaire, where her sons were later born S1043.
