How to read this record
Every claim is tagged
Most family trees flatten everything into the same confident typeface. This one does not.
The three research tags below are the whole point of the exercise: they say what a document
proves, what the weight of evidence suggests, and what nobody has found yet. A fourth marks
what the family stated directly, where no document has been retrieved at all — it is kept
separate on purpose and is never quietly promoted to confirmed. A fifth, added on
13 September 2026, marks biological evidence: a DNA result is not a document, and it is not
testimony either. Two further labels mark where this page withholds information
rather than lacking it.
ConfirmedAttested by a document that was actually retrieved and read — a census sheet, a
government index, a grave marker, a family-written obituary.
ProbableStrongly supported but not nailed down: a user-contributed tree, a masked index field,
or a chain of consistent circumstances. Believable, not proven.
Not foundSearched for and not located. This is a statement about the search, not about the
person — the record may well exist somewhere unsearched.
Family testimonySupplied by the family and recorded on their word — no document has been retrieved for
it. Note the diamond rather than the dot: this is provenance, not proof, and it stands
apart from the three record tags above S24.
DNA evidenceBiological evidence consistent with a claim. It corroborates origins; it does
not by itself establish a person or a link. Note the bar rather than a dot or a diamond:
no DNA result on this page is ever counted as confirmed, because no document
was read for it S46.
Living — withheldThe person is living. By the privacy rule for this page, name and relationship are
shown, and at most a year the family has already published. Full dates of birth, ages,
places of residence and record identifiers are held back.
Research in progressA branch that is actively being worked on. The node exists in the structure so the
shape of the family is honest; the detail is simply not in yet.

Life in the order the records give it
Birth1892
Born
16 September 1892, Bellaire, Belmont County, Ohio
S17Death1942
Died
15 August 1942, Los Angeles, California, aged 49
S17Death1942
🆕 She died at home,
2123 Lemoyne Avenue, Los Angeles. A
Daily News item of 17 August 1942 reported that, after 20 years of migraine headaches and a recent major operation, she took an overdose of headache tablets and was dead when the police ambulance arrived. That is the paper's account, quoted as printed: it does not say whether the overdose was accidental, and no coroner's finding has been read. The item puts her death on Sunday 16 August and her age at 52; the death index gives 15 August, aged 49, and that is kept
S1174.
Death1942
🆕 Her paid death notice in the
Los Angeles Examiner, 19 August 1942, reads “Anna Blanche of 2123 Lemoyne ave., Los Angeles, loving wife of William L. Proeger”
S1175.
Burial—
Buried Valhalla Memorial Park, North Hollywood, Block D, Section 3357, Lot 6
beside her husband. Her marker reads
"Loving Wife And Mother."
S17Military1918
🆕 Named as his wife on William's 1918 draft card
S381; in 1940 with him at 414 Park Ave., Dunkirk, New York, where he was a glass worker, both in Chicago in 1935
S382; added 24 September 2026.
Photograph1932
🆕 Photograph, 12 June 1932, Wallaceburg, Ontario Confirmed (family testimony): a snapshot inscribed “Mother Proeger” shows her, aged 39, on a sidewalk in the town. Her granddaughter Patricia (Proeger) Collins named her on 1 October 2026: “My Grandmother Proeger my Fathers Mother”. Both sides of the snapshot are in Photos below.

She is no kin to the other Roberts on this tree. Earl Theodore Roberts,
who married her son's widow Aileane in 1946, is son of
Leon H Roberts and
Bessie H Henderson of Massachusetts

1:1:K8KQ-X2F (groom) and 1:1:K8KQ-X2V (bride). Retrieved 16 September 2026. Both parties aged 27; the groom's parents are named as Leon H Roberts and Bessie H Henderson; the bride is indexed under her first married name, Proeger, with her parents as "Lank" [Frank] Silva and Mildred Ross [Rose]. It does two jobs. It replaces a family tree as the authority for Aileane's third marriage, and it is the only record that names Earl Theodore Roberts's own parents — which is how this page can state that he is no relation to the Anna Blanche Roberts in the generation above. Two unrelated Roberts families sit on this tree. ⚠️ She is indexed in February 1946 as Proeger, not as Parliman, though the Parliman marriage of 31 May 1943 came first [S51] — an oddity of the index, recorded and not explained. - S90Ohio Births and Christenings Index, 1774–1973 — Annie Roberts (Anna Blanche), b. 10 Nov 1892 (christening), Bellaire, Belmont, Ohio; father Henry Roberts, mother Rose Williams. FHL Film 902141. Ancestry collection 2541, record 2773008. The record that identifies both parents by name. Maiden name Williams confirmed independently by the CA Death Index (S91).
- S91California Death Index, 1940–1997 — Anna Blanche Proeger [Roberts], b. 16 Sep 1890, Ohio; d. 15 Aug 1942, Los Angeles. Mother's maiden name: Williams. Father's surname: Roberts. Ancestry collection 5180, record 5930981. Independently confirms the mother's maiden name from S90. Birth year 1890 vs 1892: the 1900 census supports Sep 1892; the death index is a secondary source for birth date.
- S921900 US Federal Census — Henry Roberts household, Wheeling, Ohio County, West Virginia. Henry Roberts, 45, Head, b. Nov 1854, West Virginia, Glass Blower, married 25 years; Rose A Roberts, 45, Wife; Etta, 19; Florence, 17; Sam, 15; Thomas, 13. Henry's parents both b. Ohio. NARA T623, Roll 1769, Page 10, ED 0125. Ancestry collection 7602, record 62778072. Image examined, read 24 September 2026: 1590 Warren St.; Rose A. born Nov 1854, W. Va., both her parents b. Ohio, mother of 13 children, 7 living; Etta b. Feb 1881, Florence Feb 1883, Sam Mar 1885, Thomas May 1887. Anna Blanche is not in this household. Only four of Rose's seven living children are at home, so a daughter of seven living elsewhere is consistent with her own count. Siblings Etta (Henrietta), Florence, Sam, and Thomas confirmed.
- S381World War I draft registration card — William Leonard Proeger, Local Board No. 15, Tarentum, Allegheny Co., Pennsylvania, 12 September 1918. Ancestry record 10212496. Image examined, read 24 September 2026. Confirmed William Leonard Proeger, Maple Ave., R.F.D. #1 Tarentum, age 42, born March 22 1876, native born; mechanic at Allegheny Steel Co., Brackenridge; nearest relative Mrs Anna Proeger, wife; tall, medium build, brown eyes, dark brown curly hair. Also Ancestry record 110212496 (the same card, filed under Anna). His own signed statement of 1876, against a 1878 on a memorial site.
- S3821940 U.S. Federal Census — William Proeger household, 414 Park Ave., Dunkirk, Chautauqua Co., New York (ED 7-29, sheet 13A, lines 16–17). Ancestry record 9706875. Image examined, read 24 September 2026. Confirmed William Proeger, 64, born Pennsylvania, glass worker, $1,248 wages in 1939; wife Anna, 49, born Ohio, the informant; both living in Chicago in 1935; renting, no children at home.
- S1174Daily News (Los Angeles), Monday 17 August 1942, page 11 — news item on the death of Mrs. Anna B. Proeger. Newspapers.com image 689233851. Page read (OCR) 1 October 2026. Confirmed “Mrs. Anna B. Proeger, 52, of 2123 Lemoyne st.”, after 20 years of migraine headaches, took an overdose of headache tablets at home and was dead when the police ambulance arrived; her husband said she had been especially nervous since a recent major operation. A reporter's account. Its age (52) and its initials for the husband and son (“H.” and “W. L.”) are press errors: the death index gives 49, and the husband is William L. It does not say whether the overdose was accidental, and no coroner's finding has been read.
- S1175Los Angeles Examiner, Wednesday 19 August 1942, page 32 — paid death notice, PROEGER, Anna Blanche. Newspapers.com image 1345687044. Page read (OCR) 1 October 2026. Confirmed “PROEGER. Anna Blanche of 2123 Lemoyne ave., Los Angeles, loving wife of William L. Proeger.” The OCR breaks off at the services line, so the services and burial are not read from this notice.
