Research status

Research status: PROBABLE. Elisabetha Schuster’s 1678 Lendsiedel baptism names her father as Hans Schuster of Nieder-Schmerach and her mother Maria S609; the 1676 Lendsiedel marriage of Hans Schuster of Unter-Schmerach and Anna Maria Gronbach, and his 1699 second marriage as a widower of Unter-Schmerach, fit the same man S805S806. All read from the register images. What is weak: each is a single register entry, and a second Hans Schuster in the hamlet cannot be ruled out. Added 29 September 2026

Evidence: Elisabetha Schuster's 1678 Lendsiedel baptism names her father Hans Schuster of Nieder-Schmerach; the 1676 Lendsiedel marriage and the 1699 Ilshofen remarriage, as a widower of Unter-Schmerach, fit the same man; all read from the register images. Weak or missing: Each is a single register entry, a second Hans Schuster in the hamlet is not ruled out, and his baptism and burial are not found. Not yet confirmed. Know more? 1. S609Württemberg, Germany, Lutheran Parish Registers — Lendsiedel, baptisms 1678, p. 35, no. 10, and marriages 1701, p. 145, no. 10: Elisabetha Schuster. Ancestry records 14965258 (image 1528571-00055) and 14967111 (image 1528571-00111). Images examined, read 25 September 2026. Probable Baptised 18 November 1678, daughter of Hans Schuster of Nieder-Schmerach and Maria. 🆕 Maria is Anna Maria Gronbach, by her parents' 1676 marriage (S805). Married 31 May 1701 at Triensbach Hanß Kochendörffer, son of the late Andreas Kochendörffer. The only Elisabetha Schuster born 1676–80 in the index; her burial age falls two to three weeks from this baptism.
  2. S805Württemberg, Germany, Lutheran Parish Registers — Lendsiedel, marriages 1676 (image 1528571-00015): Hans Schuster and Anna Maria Gronbach, 29 February 1676. Ancestry record 914964776. Image examined in the Stage 2 reading, 27 September 2026. Probable Read at full resolution: "d. 29. febr. sind copulirt worden Hannß Schüst[er] bey undern Schmerach … u. Anna Maria, Hannß Gronbachs deß jüngern, [Bauers] zu großen Allmerspann, ehelich ledige Tochter": Hans Schuster of Unter-Schmerach married Anna Maria, the single daughter of Hans Gronbach the younger, a farmer at Groß-Allmerspann. The same hamlet as Elisabetha's 1736 burial (“born Schuster of Unter-Schmerach”, S608) and the same parish as her 1678 baptism, which calls her mother simply Maria (S609). A margin insertion probably names the groom's late father as Michel Schuster, a farmer at a place beginning with K; that reading is tentative; the site gives it as Probable, accepted by Earl on 28 September 2026 pending more evidence. A crop of the entry is in documents/schuster. Collection: Württemberg, Germany, Lutheran Baptisms, Marriages, and Burials, 1500–1985.
  3. S806Württemberg, Germany, Lutheran Parish Registers — Ilshofen, marriages 1699, 3rd entry: Johannes Schuster, widower, and Anna Barbara Schuhmann, 22 August 1699. Ancestry record 11969031. Image examined in the Stage 2 reading, 27 September 2026. Probable "Johannes Schüst[er], Wittwer zu Underschmerach, und Anna Barbara, Jörg Schuhmanns zu R[…] ehel. Tochter", married 22 August 1699 at Ilshofen after banns read three times at Lendsiedel and Kirchberg. A widower of Unter-Schmerach, banned in Lendsiedel parish: the same name, hamlet and parish as the 1676 groom (S805), so his first wife Anna Maria Gronbach had died before August 1699. One entry cannot rule out a second Johannes Schuster in the hamlet, and the bride's village is illegible. The index's “Schust” is the Schüst[er] abbreviation. Collection: Württemberg, Germany, Lutheran Baptisms, Marriages, and Burials, 1500–1985.

Compiled for the Proeger family

Living adults appear by name and relationship, with the year only: no full date of birth and no home town on any page that search engines index, and a living person’s own page is kept out of search engines. Minors appear by name only — no date of birth, no birth year, no age, no school, no place, no address, no other identifying detail. A minor may be named and may appear in a family photograph; nothing further about them is published. Where it is not established whether someone is an adult or a minor, the minor rule applies.
