How to read this record
Every claim is tagged
Most family trees flatten everything into the same confident typeface. This one does not.
The three research tags below are the whole point of the exercise: they say what a document
proves, what the weight of evidence suggests, and what nobody has found yet. A fourth marks
what the family stated directly, where no document has been retrieved at all — it is kept
separate on purpose and is never quietly promoted to confirmed. A fifth, added on
13 September 2026, marks biological evidence: a DNA result is not a document, and it is not
testimony either. Two further labels mark where this page withholds information
rather than lacking it.
ConfirmedAttested by a document that was actually retrieved and read — a census sheet, a
government index, a grave marker, a family-written obituary.
ProbableStrongly supported but not nailed down: a user-contributed tree, a masked index field,
or a chain of consistent circumstances. Believable, not proven.
Not foundSearched for and not located. This is a statement about the search, not about the
person — the record may well exist somewhere unsearched.
Family testimonySupplied by the family and recorded on their word — no document has been retrieved for
it. Note the diamond rather than the dot: this is provenance, not proof, and it stands
apart from the three record tags above S24.
DNA evidenceBiological evidence consistent with a claim. It corroborates origins; it does
not by itself establish a person or a link. Note the bar rather than a dot or a diamond:
no DNA result on this page is ever counted as confirmed, because no document
was read for it S46.
Living — withheldThe person is living. By the privacy rule for this page, name and relationship are
shown, and at most a year the family has already published. Full dates of birth, ages,
places of residence and record identifiers are held back.
Research in progressA branch that is actively being worked on. The node exists in the structure so the
shape of the family is honest; the detail is simply not in yet.

Research status
Research status: PROBABLE — the S133 image reads Heinrich, but the index says Friedrich. What would confirm it: a second parish entry (her baptism or his marriage or burial).
Evidence: His daughter's 1872 burial entry, which reads Heinrich. Weak or missing: The index reads Friedrich; no second parish entry has been found. Not yet confirmed. Know more? Confirm or correct this →

Generation 6 — earliest known
- S133Elisabetha Sabina (Lösch) Prüger — burial register, Kirchberg u. Oa., 14 August 1872. Evangelische Kirche Kirchberg (OA. Gerabronn), Heiraten u. Tote 1784–1896, image 656 of 706, burial entry no. 534; Landeskirchliches Archiv Stuttgart, through Württemberg, Germany, Lutheran Baptisms, Marriages, and Burials, 1500–1985 (Ancestry collection 61023, record 15195655). Read from the register image at full resolution, 4796 × 4013 px, 21 September 2026. Died 12 August 1872 at five in the morning, a Wittwe (widow) of Kirchberg; buried 14 August at ten; age at death given as 69 years, 3 months, 14 days. Father Johann Heinrich Melchior Lösch, Glasermeister of Crailsheim, marked deceased; mother Maria Dorothea geb. Muck, marked deceased; her late husband named in the entry as a Schullehrer in Kirchberg. The register settles a surname, a death date and a trade, and refuses to settle a birth date. The Ancestry index of this same entry reads her surname as something else entirely — a misread of the Kurrent. The register names her father a Lösch of Crailsheim, which is the birthplace the German deaths index independently gives her, and her son's 1924 Pittsburgh death certificate [S68] gives his mother's maiden name as Loesch. Two record images, two continents, one surname. On the death date the two Ancestry indexes disagreed — 13 August in collection 61023, 12 August in collection 9868; the image says 12 August, and collection 9868 is the one that was right. On the birth date the stated age counts back to late April 1803, against the index's 26 May 1803; those digits are at the edge of legibility even at 4796 px and are not forced here. The record that would settle it is her baptism at Crailsheim, which is not in this corpus. ⚠ Read at full resolution on purpose. At the 600 px tier this page was illegible and an earlier pass misattributed the parents' column to her husband; the correction is what the full-resolution image is for.
- S840Ancestry index — Germany, Select Births and Baptisms: Elisabethe Sabina Lösch. Ancestry collection 9866, record 28291305. Probable Elisabethe Sabina Lösch; father Joh. Friedrich Melchior Lösch; mother Maria Dorothea Wolf. An index with no image. Ancestry's collection 9866 is the FamilySearch births and baptisms index, so it is not independent of FamilySearch; it is independent of the marriage index (S122). ⚠ Her 1872 burial entry, read from the register, gives her mother as Maria Dorothea geb. Muck and her father as Johann Heinrich Melchior (S133).
